On the Chicago Red Line platform this afternoon, a man with a guitar was tormenting us with an atonal and entirely too jaunty version of John Lennon's "Instant Karma." Which is ironic indeed, because if a celestial mechanism such as instant karma actually existed, this alleged singer surely would have been struck dead at the first note.

Are you sure he wasn't singing "Mr. Bojangles"? The melodies are pretty similar, you know.
