Note to dumb yuppies: If you want peace and quiet after midnight, don't buy the new condo next to the dance club with the 4am liquor license! You would think this would be obvious. But no. Just like the tragedy that befell the late, lamented Lounge Ax, a bunch of dinguses are trying to shut down Circuit because they were stupid enough to move in next door and, gosh, it sure is noisy!
In another sad state of affairs: "Doctor Martens gave his boots to the world, so that everybody could be free/They're heat resistant, waterproof. And retail for only 19 pounds and 99p!/Doctor Martens, Doctor Martens, Doctor Martens...lightweight, brightly colored, dainty footwear for happy people???" I ask you.
Oh, and: "We make custom pictures of your loved ones in heaven!" And no, they aren't joking.

I think the caption on all those pictures needs to be "Who Let You In Here?"

ok... speaking of gay bars in Chicago, perhaps you chi-town dwellers can help me out here.
So I flew in last weekend for a quick trip and decided to go out on friday night. As an early twenties lesbian, I thought Chicago would offer many "out on the town" options, or at least as many as Tampa. Very saddened I was, as my only choice was a place called Girl Bar where using the word Girl to describe the clientele is not so easy!
Any suggestions as I will be headed up there again soon?

Reminds me of the I-Beam (where I saw Big Black, Tackhead, the Swans, Nick Cave, and oh so many more) succumbing to stupid fucking yuppies who built next door, in oh what '87?
It ain't right, I tell ya.
Also big ups on the Alexei Sayles quote (I think), and whatever on the redesign of the shoe line. Feh. It'll be the death of them yet.

Yay! Somebody recognized the Alexei Sayle reference!
As for the Chicago bar scene, it's been a while since I went to the clubs, but the Dyke Diva might have some ideas (and there's a discussion board). You could also check NightSpots -- I think Star Gaze is still a popular spot for the ladies.
