So Atrios tipped me off to the new Beastie Boys anti-war song this morning. Have a listen!
Then come back here and lament how -- even though it may kill you to say this if you are (like me) a huge fan of the oeuvre of Messrs. Diamond, Yauch and Horovitz, and you are all in favor of protest songs in general, and why should all these ignorant country shit-kickers be the only musicians getting airplay for their opinions about the war? -- this song blows.

Still, it's better than Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA".

"Country" music has always been pro-government. There have been a few country musicians, real ones that don't sound like light rock, who have been anti-war. But, they aren't getting played, and like the Beasties probably won't.
