Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger, acknowledging he has "behaved badly" to women, apologized Thursday and promised he has changed.

Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a statewide bus tour in the final days of the recall campaign, came after the Los Angeles Times published a story Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

"Yes, it is true that I was on rowdy movie sets and I have done things that were not right, which I thought then was playful but now I recognize that I offended people," Schwarzenegger told a crowd of supporters in San Diego.

Julie Vandermost, president of the California Women's Leadership Association, an Orange County-based Republican group that has endorsed Schwarzenegger, said she was not troubled by his remarks.

"I'm happy he's coming out, apologizing and being truthful, but it doesn't mean he shouldn't be governor," Vandermost said. "I'm madder at Gray Davis for tripling my car tax."

Somehow, I bet she wouldn't be so sanguine about a serial-groping Democrat.

Oddly, Schwarzenegger followed up his declaration of innocence with: "A lot of those that you see in the stories is not true, but at the same time, I have to tell you that I always say, that wherever there is smoke, there is fire."

So...is he saying it is true? Or does he just not know what that means?

Well, if he were a DEMOCRAT it would be a different story. The repubs would be all over themselves trying to discredit him as being a leacherous pervert.

Well, of course Repubs can get over their youthful indiscretions. Those evil Democrats can't. Repubs are also allowed to change the rules anytime it suits them. If Dems try it, then they're just not playing fair. It's very simple.

Also: Nice to see you 'round these parts, Jor-El. We hardly ever hear from anyone at Table Talk anymore, even the local people.

(side note) Jim, AmyC has been mentoring me on blogs. I should have mine up real soon.

Geez, can't any of those girls remember having to give the guy a blowjob?

That would destroy him utterly. (whisper, whisper)
Or not, because he has a free pass with his Republican membership card. You know, I'd really like to see the free passes these Republicans get to show the press.
