Filmmaker Michael Wilson hopes to have his documentary "Michael Moore Hates America'' in theaters late this summer as a rebuttal to "Fahrenheit 9/11.'' Wilson said he admired "Roger & Me'' but found ``Bowling for Columbine'' troublesome.

Moore's handling of a 6-year-old girl shot to death by a classmate in Flint particularly bothered Wilson. "Bowling for Columbine'' implies welfare reform was to blame, detailing how the shooter's mother had to work two jobs and take a bus to another town to work, so she could not properly tend to her children, Wilson said.

The mother had left her son at his uncle's home, which prosecutors described as a flophouse where occupants traded guns and drugs. The boy found the gun there and took it to school.

"All this stuff added up to her being a lousy mother. It had nothing to do with her having to work two jobs,'' Wilson said. "My mom had to work two jobs to make our lives better and guess what? I didn't shoot anybody. It felt like a slap in the face to all these people out there trying to make their lives better and live out the American dream.''

Uh, dude? You might want to rewatch the movie. I think you missed the point. (Hint: He never blames the mother.)

Thanks for the headsup, Amy. I just looked at the entry for MMHA at imdb and it seems the netire cast so far reads like a listing of freemarket gurus:

John Stossel, D'nesh D'souza, and Penn Gillette. That's it except for Moore and Wilson.

I'm surprised the filmmaker didn't tackle Michael Moore's most blatant lie to date. If you look at the posters for Fahrenheit 9/11, you see Michael More and Dubya holding hands in front of the white house.

Yet as far as I know, the two men have never held hands in front of the White House before. I smell conspiracy!!!

4:27 P.M. Friday. I just got home from the theatre. Took Gramma to see the first showing of Farenehit 9/11 here in Peoria. Every once in a while she'd cluck her tongue and say, "I can't believe this".

Anyway, thought you might want to know, when we came out of the theatre, there were people outside handing out green "Impeach Bush" postcards, but when you turn it over, it has the Nader website listed.

Loved the Bonanza scene, and the young Marine at the end who was walking around with Michael M. outside the Capitol trying to get Senators to sign up their own kids for the military.
