Yesterday at the Folk and Roots Festival, I had a hula lesson while Jim (and his fellow uke students) accompanied. Dancing to the music made by your beloved is a joyful thing. He looked adorable on stage in his aloha shirt, singing and strumming and swaying along. I was so proud of him, I got all misty-eyed. I wanted to tell all the strangers next to me, "See that handsome guy up there? That's my husband!"

But there were so many handsome guys up on the stage that they would not have known which one you meant!
Anyway, the hula lessons seemed to go well from my POV. Lani got a huge number of people to stand up and do the steps. And she wasn't hardly distracted by her two young children who were running around the tent during the show, and even running up to her while she was trying to drum out the accompaniment for the dancers.

Also: I was completely impressed by the hula dancers that performed yesterday. I hardly get to see any hula performances, since I'm concentrating on ukulele lessons, and seeing everyone in formation yesterday was pretty great.
