Senator and canine enthusiast Rick Santorum has a new book. Here are some excerpts.

A sampling: "And for some parents, the purported need to provide things for their children simply provides a convenient rationalization for pursuing a gratifying career outside the home."

And by "some parents," of course, he means mothers. Fathers are allowed to pursue gratifying careers outside the home as much as they damn well please.

Do you think maybe someday people who blame feminism for "women working outside the home" will acknowledge that many women -- especially poor women -- have always worked outside the home, since the dawn of work, long before 1972?

No. Well, maybe some. But considering this little Nugget of Joy I stumbled upon yesterday, there is reason to doubt:

...Personally, I blame the women. They haven't grasped their opportunities, but choose to run to the safety of the kitchen and wealthy males. Look at the endless parade of bimbos who chase sportsmen and successful businessmen. The thing which might save feminism is the war in Iraq...

You're right though: Santorum is indeed a complete and utter shithead.

Dan Savage in The Stranger started a contest a couple of years ago to make "santorum" mean something else. People wrote in to his column suggesting all sorts of amazing things, all relating to gay sex acts. Resulting in language like "Do you santorum?" "Never on a first date. Well, it depends, lol." The definition he finally settled on was "the frothy mixture of feces and lubricant that sometimes appears as a by-product of anal sex." What followed was a series of letters discussing the best ways to get santorum out of your sheets, how to avoid too much santorum in the first place, etc. Brings new meaning to the term "shithead."

Oops. Just noticed your link. Guess you knew that. Well, it never hurts to be explicit about just what we mean by santorum. What scares me is just how precisely that definition stuck in my head! I mean my memory! Jesus. That's why I hate posting on these things.
