In accordance with my New Year's resolution to make time again for creative projects, I made a necklace last night. I hadn't made a necklace in more than a year. It's a simple piece -- semi-matte black seed beads, two black Swarovski crystals, and a black star-shaped pendant I made from Shrinky Dink plastic* -- but it turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself. I got quite a few compliments on it at work today. Even better: One coworker liked it so much, she wants me to make one for her. For money, even! I haven't sold a piece of jewelry since the first DIY Trunk Show, back in 2003.

That makes me happy. I should post a picture.

Of the necklace, I mean. Not of me being happy. (That doesn't show up on film.)

* This is my new favorite thing. You can buy 10 sheets of plain Dink for five bucks, then Shrinky to your heart's content. I got inspired by the Super Crafty book. You should totally get it.
