I'm not sure how I feel about Beth Ditto on the cover of NME (totally not work-safe. Unless you work somewhere cool).
I mean, on the one hand, three cheers for accepting yourself and being sexy in your skin and smashing the beauty machine and all that.
On the other hand, why do women always have to be naked to get on music mag covers?

I'm of two minds as well, but I'd like to think she's kind of thumbing her nose at the "sexy naked woman on the cover" schtick. And at this point, it IS a schtick.
Well, unless she's pretty serious about it, in which case I really don't know what to think. Then I'm stuck in the same place, mentally and philosophically, as you are.
And then there's the matter of her intentions not mattering nearly as much as the message that is delivered, and I don't know exactly what that message is, even the one I'm receiving. If it's intended to get us talking about this issue, then here at least it's succeeding in delivering its intended message.
