:: [Prev] wastin' away again in gastroenteritis-ville [Next]
Some time around last Friday or Saturday, I picked up a nasty case of viral gastroenteritis. I know, all the kids are doing it, saying how cool it is and all. But people, let me tell you: gastroenteritis sucks. Not being able to eat for several days sucks. Gatorade sucks. Only being comfortable when one is curled in the fetal position for two days? It sucks. Oh, and spending an entire morning in the ER getting IV fluids (two bags!) and blood work totally sucks.
The best part is, there's nothing to be done except wait for it to go away. I got some anti-spasmodic pills to stop my innards from being all jumpy and crampy, but those only work a little bit. At least I get to start eating solid food again today. Bland, soft, excitement-free solid food, but still.

Oh my god. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Of all the horrors of medical treatment I've ever heard about, being made to drink Gatorade must rank near the top.
I may not stop shuddering for hours.

It was horrible, Dave. It was every bit as bad as you imagine. Like drinking flat Mountain Dew.
And, since I can't have caffeine, I have not been able to partake of any "tea-upon-ice." For days!

Oh no! Feel better soon, girlie!

Ginger root is supposed to be good for GI distress. If that doesn't work, diamonds will cure anything.

Ugh. Feel better! I command it. (Did that work?)

I could drop off some saltines on the way to work. Saltines are nature's little squares of heaven.
Hope you're feeling better!
