So. There's no good way to explain what's going on here these days. I'll just jump right in then. Jim's mom has stage four lung cancer. It's spreading. It sucks. We've known for about 10 days now, and she's been in the hospital nine of those. For almost two weeks, there have been visits and constant e-mails and phone calls to family and friends and nurses and doctors, and we still don't know much more than we did at the start of this hell-ride. We are still doing a lot of waiting and seeing.
We're trying to keep a sense of normality to our lives, but that's hard to do when you're sleep-deprived, stressed out, and sad. It's all just very sad.
We're not having much luck with happy thoughts these days, so if you could think some happy thoughts for us, that would be great. We'll bake you some brownies or something in gratitude.

It sucks beyond words.
You have all our good thoughts, and whatever else you might need. Just let us know.

I tried to smuggle in some Sydney weather, but they confiscated it at customs.

I have good thoughts of time in Chicago with Lynn, you and Jim. We had some very nice times. I'm glad we got to do that more than once.

I have been thinking about you both. I wish I had something to offer you both and jim's mom that could help you all get though these moments.
