If you live anywhere near Chicago, you have to see Theatre Oobleck's The Strangerer. Seriously, you have to. It is hilarious and haunting, incisive and absurd, with a brilliant performance by Guy Massey as a desperate, disturbed George W. Bush.

I don't want to give too much away, but the show concerns Bush on the edge of an existential meltdown deciding to kill moderator Jim Lehrer during the 2004 presidential debate in a post-disaster Coral Gables, Fla. In a brilliant jab at the dangers of letting a sociopath set policy, neither John Kerry nor Lehrer himself ever argue this is a bad idea, per se, though Kerry's position is that it's just not the right time to kill the newsman.

It's just so damn good, this play. And Oobleck's admission policy is "$10, more if you've got it, free if you're broke," so you can't afford not to go!
